About the Designer

Diane Kendal Higgins.

Born and brought up in the beautiful countryside in Yorkshire, surrounded by nature, Diane has been creative all her life.  In a sixties childhood where children had much more freedom than today, she spent time both with model engineers, professional artists, artist-gardeners, and talented, versatile crafts people. Aged eleven, she produced and sold her own range of handcrafted cards.

After studying Art and Design at Hull University, she worked for a large aircraft engineering company, where she was educated in the importance of detail and quality issues.  At the same time continuing study at Bishop Burton College, Diane once again pursued her love of plants, horticulture and design, and with a business partner, set up and ran a successful garden design business.

Working in a creative but frustrating role as a horticultural designer for several multi-national companies, in 2005, she began to produce her own successful range of jewellery designs as D-H-Designs Jewellery.  Passionate about Venetian Murano glass, silver, gemstones and the clarity of Austrian Swarovski Crystal, all Diane’s pieces are influenced by events in nature.  From the clear blue sky of crisp Winter’s day, to the muted greens and pinks of a newly opening English beech leaf, inspiration is constant.  . Creating Individual pieces to exacting standards.   Private and public exhibitions, Associate Member of East Riding Artists Association.  Private commissions bespoke and Allegorical Jewellery.
